Lips-tick!

I recently had a friend of mine write me asking me about lips and clowns. Those two words should NEVER be in the same sentence! I'm sure glad she brought it up too cause this seasons Spring and Summer trends are all about showing off those lips! We're talking purple, hot pink, orange! I'll show you how to tie down your flappers or make those paper thin lips look plump with just a couple easy steps.   

                  Let's start with color shall we ladies? 

The "Look":

 This seasons colors are going to be bright and bold!

So what shades of color look best on what shades of skin tone?

If you are darker skinned, you wanna go with colors that are warmer toned. Like Make Up Forever's lipstick in Pearl. If you want an orange lipstick, the perfect shade for you would be one of my fav's, Kat Von D's lipstick in A-Go-Go! And for that pink, grab NARS' Funny Face. Ah yes! And red...Hourglass' Icon Lipstick will do the trick!

 

If you have olive colored skin, try to stick with orange or golden based colors like MAC's Port Red Lipstick. If you want to do a purple, try Benefits gloss in Kiss Me. And a pretty Orange? Allure suggests using Shiseido's  Make Up Perfect Rouge Lipstick in OR 418! Want a hot pink? Grab Make UP Forever's Lipstick in #9!

For you fair skinned ladies! You wanna grab blue based reds! Cooler colors for cooler skin tones! My favorite red? Sephora Brand's Hot Tango! When reaching for an Orange, grab Kat Von D's Stiletto! And with Purples, I usually do a mix with Make Up Forever's #15  lipstick together with their Lab Shine gloss in Pearly Violet! And for a pink, I happen to really like Too Faced Mood Swing Lip Gloss in Original or Petal Pink for a softer touch!

The "Products":

People ask me all the time how to make their lipsticks last longer. There are many different ways to make that lipstick...STICK! Some people use a dash of powder over their lips, other use foundation, some use both! Here is another great way to achieve long lasting lip stick...

1. Line lips with lip pencil including the inside. (fill them all in)

2.Apply first coat of lipstick

3.Grab a tissue and pull apart into 2 pieces making it one-ply.

4.Blot lips

5.Apply second coat of lip stick.

6.Smile...you got it! 

If you are a girl on the go and need something a little quicker...try this! Your lipsticks won't know what hit them!

For those of you know me personally, you know that it is something I say all the time. The ironic thing is that it is one of the things I struggle with the most. As a kid growing up I realized fairly quickly that both my bother (8 years older) and my sister (6 Years older) were way stronger than I was physically so I needed to find another defense mechanism. I found it in my words. I used to take pride in being able to beat people up with my words and make them feel less than I. Today, it is the thing I despise! As with most sicknesses, there is an anecdote and that is words of life! After years of filtering my words I realize that speaking life brings much more pleasure than tearing down with my words. So, if out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, then what really needs to change? The heart. The heart changes when the person who carries it decides to focus all their attention on positive things and holds their tongue towards negative things. Would you believe me if I told you that I read books on how to be more witty and have quicker more intelligent come backs? Ha! Today I read about Christ and His love for people. I read about how to lift others up and bring encouragement. I still have a long way to go but I am well on my way to getting there. Lips-tick! Ready to explode with the first thing that comes to mind...so try to speak with your HEART!-MUA!
