"The Tanners" the one thing comes to mind? Full House! It was one of my favorite shows as a kid and if I had cable TV I would still be watching it! Every summer together with my sister (my brother was always too cool for Full House) we would lay in mom and dads bed to watch episode after episode! Summer was one of my favorite times of year (who doesn't love summer). Not only was Full House a total plus, but the sun also meant bronzed skin! With summer around the corner I am sure that everyone is looking forward to the kiss of that sun! Especially you poor Northerners! Although soaking up the sun is always fun, there are tons of really great ways to bronze up when the sun seems to be taking a break! And yes, I also mean self bronzers, which can be totally rad when you get the right one and know how to use it! AND it isn't just about getting bronzy, you can use a bronzer to contour specific areas of your face too! Ah! The endless possibilities with the tanners! All this and more!!!
The "Look":
We all want that bronze skin, but we gotta be careful! Application is key! If we put too much, our faces can look kinda dirty so we need to know when to stop! Below you will find a couple helpful techniques when it comes to application AND color (cause that's important too!).
The "Products":
Loracs Tantalizer is one of the best selling bronzers on the market today and is loved by all! This bronzer is fool proof and adds an amazing reddish glow to the face instantly! My absolute favorite bronzer in the whole wide world! $28
This amazing matte bronzer, also by Too Faced, is called Chocolate Soleil! Rightfully so as it is made of nothing but bliss as it is infused with COCOA! With one swipe across the cheeks you will be smelling oh so sweet! It also helps to neutralize red and is great for all skin tones. Because it is matte, you can also use it for contouring!
Irresistible is Irresistiblement by NARS! What a beautiful color! This is a true brown bronzer and can add an amazing golden glow to any skin color! It is very similar to MAC bronzer as well, in case they are ever out! $33

The "Point":
The Tanner family (Full House), one if the most beloved familes in history, were tight knit, had great communication, and never spanked their kids! At the end of every show no matter what DJ did, who's diary Stephanie read, and how annoying Uncle Joey was (Uncle Jesse was perfect...hahaha!) everything always seemed to work out just fine. That is what family is, what it was always meant to be like. The Tanners were famous for inviting people in and making them be a part of their lives. In fact, when Aunt Becky came into the picture she became the motherly influence and guide in the lives of the girls. Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey acted as not only as best friends to Dad, or Danny, but they acted as brothers as well. They were close and nothing came in between.
Just recently my sister celebrated her thirtieth birthday. I remember when we were kids celebrating our themed birthday parties and telling mom on each other. We hardly ever got along but we still loved each other very much and today she has become a confidant and an amazing friend. I have been living far away from her for about three years. I mean, her and the rest of my family of course. I hate missing birthdays and anniversaries...I am a HUGE celebrator and I do it with anything and everything. I called her at 12 am to wish her a happy day hoping I'd wake her up from a perfect dream! ha! That's what sisters do...especially little one's! After a brief conversation, I went on line and noticed a friend going through a difficult time. I wrote to him and told him that I was praying for him and his family. I had no idea what was going on, but I sensed that it was something truly agonizing. He later wrote me back and allowed me to know that his sister was fighting for her life. I was heart broken and I could feel his pain, literally. I sat for a while thinking about my sister, who was celebrating life, and his sister who was fighting for hers. It made my heart ache even more. I wrote him back with a prayer and words of encouragement hoping and praying that it would bring some sort of divine peace. I then sent him a song. One of my very favorites in the whole wide world and I cried as I attached it to the message. After clicking "send" I sat in my living room and had one of the most intense moments of prayer that I have had in a long time. I cried like I haven't cried in a while and poured my heart out before Jesus for this girl and her family. I prayed for peace mostly and for healing of my friends broken heart. After praying, I went to bed with such an intense peace, Shalom is what they call it, and I thanked God for whatever he chose to do in the situation. When I woke up the next day, I immediately checked the computer for any updates. I saw a message and it read that my friends sister had passed. That she took her last breaths to the song that I sent and let go right after... I was so blown away by this. I couldn't believe the honor that God had bestowed upon me. I was able to be a part of this this girls life before she went to meet with Jesus. I was able to be a sister to someone in need who left and to someone who is still here. Although my heart ached to hear of his loss, I believe he knew as I did that she left with peace.
What if we had a whole ocean of family? What if we never limited ourselves to just blood but rather opened our hearts to those around us an acted as a family members to those who are in distress and great need? There are people who need sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers and even daughters and sons. We will never be able to replace the person, but we can be there to help. Even in moments like these. How many times have you heard someone say,"She's like a daughter to me." "He's like a dad to me." This implies a need. Community, family, relationships. TOGETHER. Imagine your body without it's feet or ears. Or your body without a chromosome. Although small, your body would not function the way it was designed to. You can adapt, but the greatest success in the human body is when everything is complete and working TOGETHER as a WHOLE. God created relationships, family, together we achieve far more than what we can imagine. Because together we can change the world. Today I may need someone to be there, but tomorrow it will be you. And there we will be, one for the other. I am grateful for my family, but I am also grateful for those who who do not carry my blood but have shared in my joys and in my sorrows. We are a family, we are "The Tanners".
I dedicate this to Melissa & Jose,Jessica & David,Shayna & Jicson,Yanira & Gilberto,Millie,Bert & Zoha, Yolie, Janice Dodd,Judy & Tito, Natalia & Jeisaac, Clarimar,Tammy,Quimmy, Miguel, Maria Cristina & Jonathan,Nicole & Raffa, Myozottie & Carlos, Mirelys & Dianny and to all the sisters, mothers, brothers, fathers, sons and daughters. We need you...
Melissa's song.
