What if we could go to the grocery store without looking rediculous and not spend an obscene amount of time looking like we care? Let's be real. The majority of us don't care about looking fabulous whilst going to Walgreens or Red Box but the truth is, you never know who you will bump into. It ALWAYS happens. You know the whole, "I hope I don't see anyone I know." And you turn the corner and there is your mother in law, your ex-boyfriend, or an over enthusiastic member of your church. You try to go the opposite way but it's too late! They've already spotted you! Then you HAVE to say hi cause, well, then it would be rude not too. After a fifteen minute convo you grab what you need and bolt outta there. All cause you didn't prepare. Imagine how this could've played out if you HAD prepared. You walk in and your glowing. You swish your hair slow motion to the left, then to the right. The cashier steals a glance. You wink. ((TING)). Your smiling at everyone with your glossy lips and batting your long lusterous lashes. You round the corner and there in the toiletry isle is...is...
Ok! Ok! It doesn't always end with Fabio but hey! You feel great about yourself! This especially goes out to all you ladies who are stay at home moms or stay at home wives! Sometimes we need a "pick-me-up". And surprisingly it only takes 5 minutes! Scouts Honor.
P.S. I haven't forgotten about you working ladies! Especially the ones that take longer drinking your coffee than getting ready in the morning! ( I was one of those and I worked selling MAKEUP!) This one goes out to you too! As my dear friend Emile says..."Get it togetha!"
The "Look":
A face that will last you all day with only 5 minutes of work!
The "Tutorial":
*I forgot to include this in the video but...I applied my foundation with my hands. Just remember to evenly distribute. OR you can use a powder foundation.
The "Products":
I use this foundation on a daily basis. It works best with drier skin and has an spf 15! For more information on how to find a great foundation for your skin type you can check out my blog post called "Trace the Base".
Smashbox's Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer $30
You can skip this step if you like. I use it cause it not only acts as a nice primer for my bronzer eyeshadow, but it also helps neautralize my dark circles and makes a perfect prep for my concealer! I don't recommend it for darker skin colors as it only comes in one light shade.
Benefit's Stay Don't Stray $24
Benefit's Stay Don't Stray $24
This stuff is no joke and will cover EVERYTHING! This foundation is one of the few things I recommend outside of my beloved Sephora. I swear by it and couldn't live without it as a CONCEALER. I would only use it as a foundation for insnely special ocassions.
Dermablend $30
This step is completely otional. If your using a powder foundation you obviously won't need it! Just a ligh ttouch will do!
Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil $19-30
This bronzer is the makeup love of my life. I use it daily also! Really beautiful on all skin types!
Too Faced Snow Bunny Bronzer $28
This is a really great liner. It glides on nicely and has a smudgie on the end!
You can find this at a salon near you! If you live in Puerto Rico, metro area, you can find it at HUMA salon in Hato Rey! Or find your favorite brown liner with a smudgie and apply!
TIGI haircare.com (for a salon near you) Big Fat Fun Eye Liner
Any mascara will do really. I used this one. I like it cause it;s all natural and it still keeps my lashes soft while maintaining them "up" all day! Really great one!
Korres Deep Colour Mascara $18
Non sticky no fuss gloss! Gotta love it!
NARS Lip Gloss $24
If you can get away with it you can skip this step too! Sometimes less is more! I on the other hand have a giant bald spot on my eyebrow so I need the pencil! This one is my favorite. I use it in Medium Ash.
Anastasia Brow Wiz $20
Have you ever been in a place in your life where you are experiencing the most tulmutous time yet the most beautiful time all at once? I can definately say that I am at one of those points. I feel so close to my maker and yet so far away from myself. I often get on my own nerves. That's right, I said it...on my own nerves. I think Paul said it best when he wrote:
"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." Romans 7:15
Just today I was talking to my mom about my nephews. She was telling me that the twins, who are about to turn seven, were in the shower and started screaming their heads off. When my sister and mother got to the bathroom, one of them was holding his eye and the other was crying. "What happened?"my mother asked. "Ethan punched me in the eye!". Ethan's response? "I didn't want to...I don't know why I did it!". Boys will be boys, but Ethan's response is one that many of us tell ourselves when we do stupid things that make no sense whatsoever. My sister soon intervened and said,"It's okay mom I will take care of it."
Like Peter Pan and his lost shadow, I must find a way to connect my spirit with my soul. In this inner battle I carry with me on a daily basis I must come to the realization that I am not perfect! And by all means this is not an excuse to go out and act a fool, but I need to know that it is not I who does "...what I hate to do."
"As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is the sin living in me." Romans 7:17
There is no escaping my humanity.
So then, to whom do I take my imperfections? Where can I feel safe in my imperfections? What hope do I have? Jesus. Point blank. Once we become sons and daughters, we are no longer bound to the slavery of sin. No, we become slaves to righteousness, love, and to Him.
"In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death." Proverbs 12:28
In the same manor that my sister stepped in and "took care of things"is the same manor that Jesus steps in and takes care of all our junk too. He says, "Don't worry, I got this." It's not that he lets us get away with things, it's that he corrects us with his everlasting love. Through His correction, is the only way we will ever be able to live.
"because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in." Proverbs 3:12
My conclusion is this, I must bring everything I have, the good the bad and the ugly, to Him. He is the only one that can take it and transform it into something amazing and beautiful. We cannot be without our shadows, because without our shadows we have lost our identity. We must teach our shadows to whom they must bown down to. No not us, but to Christ. And that my dears is what it means to be transparent in front of God. He can handle the naked truth.-MUA!
