Just Say Yes!

Weddings! Ah...I just can't get enough of them. No really. Everyone is getting married! So with all these bells ringing, I think it would only be appropriate to do a blog on how to get ready for the big day! I have encountered way too many brides with cracked lips, zits galore, foundations that DO NOT MATCH and more! So, to clear up all your worries....this one is for you bride to be and for anyone else that will be involved in the festivities!

The "Look":

FLAWLESS!

These are a few things I have personally seen time and time again at weddings. My mom being a wedding planner, I have seen too many! Fasten your seat belts...this might be  a bumpy ride to smooth sailing!

MASSAGES

There are tons of brides that opt to get their massage the day before and even the day of the wedding but bride be ware!! Massages at the moment are amazing, but the next day you will wake up sore and in need of a couple of pain killers for ease! If you want a relaxing massage, opt for one after the wedding or at least two days before so you can really enjoy the wedding! And remember to drink LOTS of water after the massage as massages release toxins from the muscle to help cleanse! (kinda like getting a work out!)

 Tanning

Oh boy. This is an ugly one! Too many women want to get "bronzed" for their wedding! I was one of them! Thank God I was too broke to go to a tanning bed (which I am not fond of anyway)and didn't have the proper bathing suit to do catch the free sun without ridiculous tan lines! The last thing you want is to go to a tanning bed a few days before your wedding or douse your body in orange faux tan leaving you looking like a gingerbread cookie. If you want to look bronzed, tan gradually and with NO TAN LINES especially if you plan on wearing a strapless or off the shoulder dress! On the contrary, embrace the paleness...it's still beautiful!

DRY LIPS

BEFORE

AFTER

Moisturizing your lips is something pretty easy right? It's the effort that is the hardest. Imagine the photographer getting a close up on your first kiss as husband and wife and capturing the dead skin hanging off the side of your lip. Mmmmm...attractive.

Surprise Pimple

BEFORE

AFTER
What to do when you wake up with a GIANT zit on your face the day before or the day of the wedding?! It can be a nightmare waiting to happen especially if you are prone to get break outs due to stress. Always remember to eat healthy and drink lots of water to help cleanse your body from any toxins. You can start doings this at least 3-6 months before the wedding! Using good cleansers and moisturizers specifically made for your skin type will help reduce your chances too!

FOUNDATION
YIKES!

WOW!

Yep. Even celebs make the all too common mistake of wearing the wrong foundation color! If the foundation is too light it can leave your skin looking grey which is anything but attractive. This can also happen with a foundation that is too dark. Now that can leave you looking like a pumpkin! Ripe for the pickn'! YEHAW! A great way to avoid this grave danger, is by having your make up artist (or you) do your make up in natural light. In other words where there is a window that allows the sun to come in. That will reveal the true color of your make up as opposed to doing your make up in synthetic light.

Concealer

BEFORE

AFTER
Alright ladies, this is a topic we've hit before. Too many people assume that the lighter the concealer, the more coverage it will have. That is totally false. In fact it can highlight the very thing you want to cover! Be sure to find a concealer that either matches your skin perfectly or is no more than two shades lighter than your natural skin color. If you have very dark circles, try using an anti-dark circle eye cream in advance or a color corrector (applied before a concealer).

EYE MAKEUP

Obviously the majority of us would never think about doing our make up as extream as Mimi's but we need to clear the air! We don't want to apply too much or too little. We want just enough to enhance our natural beauty and for the camera to pick it up as well. If you notice, the girl above doesn't have crazy makeup on, but she still looks stunning as the little makeup that she does have on brings out her eyes and beautiful lips! You want people to comment on YOU not your makeup!

The "Point":
I remember the day my husband got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. He had come from Puerto Rico on a surprise visit just to ask for my hand. I had no idea however the rest of my family did as they were all present when he popped the question. That was three years ago and I am so glad I said yes!
Before we became an "item" it was anything less than a fairy tale. In fact my heart had just gotten broken by a guy that I really liked. He was one of those guys that knew what to say, how to say it, and when to say it! He had all the qualities that I wanted in a husband except for one. Jesus. He said he loved Jesus and lived for him, but on countless occasions he wanted to cross the line and I wasn't crossing it until I said "I do". After three months of fighting with myself, I let him go. And with him my heart. I remember how angry I was, vulnerable, rejected. It was so bad that thoughts of 'I'm not good enough for anyone. I'm going to be alone forever. I am unlovable.' became my constant companion. I had lost sight of who I was. And even worse, who I was in Christ. About three months later my husband came into the picture. I was doing better by then, but not by much, and quite honestly I was a little hesitant to let him in. I had always been fond of him from afar but never in a million years did I think one day he would be my beloved and I his. I remember praying about it and I could feel a rush of relief, peace, and excitement all wrapped up in one. I was finally being rescued. At the time I was still in missionary school so I was being watched like a hawk! Haha! He was a gentleman though. Within a week we said 'I love you' and within two, we set a date for the wedding! (haha!) We were crazy in love (still are)!
During that time I went back to Florida and he stayed in Puerto Rico. It was very difficult being far away but we made the best of it. We would talk through web cam and call each other when there was a moment. What joy it was to hear him on the other side of that phone! I will never forget what he would always tell me, "I am your prince you are my princess, and I will fight for your heart." It didn't take long for my heart to heal and become renewed, after all when it is pure, true, unadulterated love it has the power to heal anything!
I feel so blessed to have a husband that loves me the way it has always been intended. The way Christ loves his church. Too often do I hear women saying that the fairy tale endings "ruin" a woman's mind and make her believe these things are true. I am a witness that this story can be made a reality in your life (even if you are single)! Robert was not the  first prince to enter into my life. Nope. He was the second. The first prince was Jesus. And it was through my first heavenly prince that I knew how to clearly see my second earthly one. Jesus is the perfect guide and example of what we need to look for and who the men of our hearts need to look like. Jesus is such a gentleman. He comes into your heart, sweeps out all the cob webs and makes a beautiful home out of a room of emptiness. He invites you in, takes you by the hand, and dances with you. He stores up only the best for his princess, makes the most amazing flowers right out of his hands, and places a sun in the sky together with birds that sing, all just for you. He made a big pearl for the night sky, and little diamonds to accent it. Just perfect! This is how much He loves you! He would even give his life for you, over and over if he had to. He is the true Prince...with white horse and all!

"I saw heaven standing wide open, and there before me was a white horse, who's rider is called faithful and true. His eyes are like blazing fire and on his head are many crowns." Rev. 19:11-12(NIV abridged)

He is the most amazing poet! In fact, he has written the most beautiful things for you! He is the missing puzzle peace. The spark in your flame. The joy in life. He calls you bride!

"Therefore I am going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. 'In that day', declares the Lord,'you will call me "my husband" and you will no longer call me "my master"." Hosea 2:14,16 (NIV)

"As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you." Isaiah 62:5 (NIV)
"Let the king be enthralled by your beauty, honor him for he is your lord." Psalm 45:11 (NIV)
"You have stolen my heart, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes..." Song of Solomon 4:9 (NIV abridged)

Wonder where fairy tales came from?! Fairy tales can be real, at least this one. Your story is already begun, it just needs a princess to make it a best seller! He is on one knee, ready to give you the adventure of a lifetime and a life full of joy! Go ahead and just say YES!-MUA!

Robert and I on our special day!
